Jan. 28 – National Kazoo Day
National Kazoo Day is celebrated on January 28th each year.
Invented in the early 1840s, the kazoo is a simple musical instrument that anyone can play. All you need is a length of a hollow tube with a membrane stretched across one end. When you hum into the kazoo, the vibration of your voice causes the membrane to vibrate and create a unique buzzing sound. Don’t have a kazoo for today? Grab a comb or an empty toilet paper tube and wax paper!
