National Girl Scout Day
It’s National Girl Scout Day! A day to celebrate one of the most iconic and respected organizations for young girls in America. The Girl Scouts of the USA was founded on this day in 1912, and since then has empowered millions of girls to become leaders, learn new skills, and make a difference in their communities. Today, there are over 2.7 million Girl Scouts in the US and millions more around the world. Girl Scouting provides girls with a unique experience that helps them grow into strong, confident women.
What’s better than getting a box of delicious Girl Scout Cookies? Knowing that you’re supporting a great organization! In 1908, the first known sale of cookies by Girl Scouts occurred in Oklahoma. The cookies were sold by a troop in Muskogee to raise funds for their troop activities. The most popular Girl Scout cookie flavors are Thin Mints, Samoas, and Trefoils. According to the Girl Scout website, nearly 200 million boxes of cookies are sold each year!
