May 20 – Learn to Swim Day
May 20 is National Learn to Swim Day! Make a splash and take action to help prevent drownings. Drowning is the second-leading cause of unintentional injury death for children ages 1-14 years old. And, for every child who dies from drowning, another five receive emergency department care for nonfatal submersion injuries. You can help prevent drownings by learning how to swim, and by teaching your children to swim. You can also help by taking action in your community to increase swimming safety.
