May 6 – Crepe Suzette Day

Crepe Suzette day is celebrated on May 6th. This day commemorates the day in 1895 when Henri Charpentier, a 14 year old assistant waiter, created the crepe Suzette. Accounts vary, but the most popular story is that while working at the Monte Carlo Palace Hotel, Prince Albert of Monaco requested a special crepe. Henri, who was in charge of making the crepes that night, decided to improvise and created a crepe Suzette. The Prince was so pleased with the crepe that he requested the recipe from Henri. The crepe Suzette has been a menu staple at the Monte Carlo Palace Hotel ever since.
