Hump Day
Running on Coffee and Loose Threads
Happy Wednesday, my friends!
We’ve reached that magical point in the week when Monday’s enthusiasm has disappeared, Friday is playing hard to get, and the coffee pot is starting to feel like a business partner.
Here in Hooterville, I’m celebrating Hump Day with realistic expectations. If I finish one thing, locate my scissors, and avoid sewing something inside out, we’re calling it a successful day.
Actually, let’s not get carried away. Two out of three will do.
Wednesday has a very specific personality. It’s the day you walk into a room with purpose, stop in the middle, and think, “Well, somebody sent me in here.”
Was it for thread? My glasses? A snack?
Let’s try a snack. Sometimes the answer reveals itself near the cookies.
Meanwhile, my sewing room is full of possibilities. That sounds much nicer than saying there are seventeen unfinished projects watching me start another one.
I swear the fabric whispers.
“Just cut out one little outfit.”
“Try that other print.”
“You could finish this before dinner.”
Fabric is a terrible judge of time.
And then there’s the bobbin, which apparently has enough thread for everything except the last six inches. Nothing builds character quite like confidently stitching an entire seam with absolutely nothing happening underneath.
Beautiful work. Completely imaginary, but beautiful.
So today, I propose a gentler approach to getting over the hump:
Drink something lovely. Make something small. Laugh when the day gets ridiculous. And if you need to use the seam ripper, remember: even your mistakes deserve a grand opening.
We don’t have to conquer the entire week today. We just have to make it through Wednesday with a little humor and enough sense to keep the good scissors away from the packing tape.
Happy Hump Day, friends. May your coffee stay warm, your thread behave, and your afternoon include something that makes you smile.
What’s getting you over the hump today: coffee, creativity, or the promise of being left alone for twenty minutes? ☕🐪🧵
