Friday Called
It Said We’ve Done Enough.
There’s something about Friday that makes an unfinished to-do list look less like a responsibility and more like a suggestion from someone who doesn’t know us very well.
On Monday, I had plans. Organized plans. The kind that require a clear workspace, matching socks, and a woman who remembers why she walked into a room.
By Friday, I’m calling it a successful week if I can find my scissors without launching an investigation.
Somewhere between the sewing, the drawing, the website tinkering, and the two little supervisors who believe every closed door is a personal insult, the week disappeared. I’m sure I accomplished things. There’s evidence. Unfortunately, most of it is underneath something else.
And now the weekend is approaching with its usual dangerous question:
“What do you want to do?”
Well. I want to make something lovely, eat something delicious, and possibly sit down long enough for both dogs to decide I’m furniture.
I’d also like to finish a project before starting another one, but let’s keep our expectations within the realm of science.
Autumn makes all of this worse in the nicest possible way. The minute the air turns chilly, I start imagining a peaceful afternoon with something baking, music playing, and absolutely no urgent demands.
Then I remember that baking creates dishes, the dogs have opinions about the music, and I’ve just thought of something else I could add to the website.
Apparently, even my relaxing comes with a side project.
Still, I’m claiming a little Friday freedom. The laundry can wait through one song. The unfinished project will survive while I have a snack. And that enormous list? It can lie there quietly and think about its behavior.
If your week didn’t go exactly as planned, pull up a chair. There’s room here for unfinished business, questionable attention spans, and people who did their best with the energy they had.
What’s your Friday mood: making plans, making things, or making absolutely no promises?
Happy Friday,
Bella Katella ♥
