Hello Tuesday
Who Left You Unsupervised?
There’s something about the Tuesday before Halloween that makes ordinary responsibilities feel a little unreasonable.
You want me to organize paperwork when there are pumpkins with personalities to admire? Fold laundry while I’m trying to decide whether a tiny illustrated ghost needs a bow, striped stockings, or an entirely new wardrobe?
Please. We all have priorities.
Here in Hooterville, the leaves are showing off, the Halloween decorations are earning their keep, and I’m approaching my to-do list with the confidence of someone who has absolutely misplaced it.
Things are going beautifully.
The decorations are getting ideas
I’m convinced that once you put a face on a pumpkin, it starts having opinions.
One looks disappointed in my housekeeping. Another seems to be judging the porch arrangement. The little one has the unmistakable expression of someone who knows where the chocolate is hidden.
I don’t remember inviting a committee into my home, yet here we are.
And somehow, I’m still considering adding another pumpkin.
A small creative detour
This is the time of year when I can sit down to make one simple thing and emerge much later with six ideas, seventeen open tabs, and a strong conviction that a woodland animal needs a Halloween costume.
A sensible person might write the idea down and finish the original project.
I need to see whether the squirrel looks better as a wizard.
That’s how an afternoon happens around here.
But I do love those little detours. A pencil sketch becomes a character. A scrap of fabric suggests an outfit. One ridiculous thought turns into something that makes somebody else laugh.
The squirrel may have delayed production, but he’s contributing.
Something sweet for an ordinary Tuesday
Between the errands, dishes, work, and things that apparently expect us to remember them, I hope you find a few minutes for something you enjoy today.
Make a little something. Send a friend a silly picture. Put on a favorite song while you tackle the kitchen. Use the pretty mug even if the rest of the counter is a situation.
I’ll be over here trying to get a few things finished before another imaginary animal requires my services.
Happy Tuesday, friends. May your day include a good laugh, a small creative adventure, and chocolate you don’t have to share.
If you could leave one chore to a friendly ghost today, which chore would it be? Mine can start with the floors. 🎃💜
