Just One More Color…

Just One More Color…

I sat down to do a little drawing. Nothing elaborate—just me, a sketchpad, and a few colored pencils. Apparently, “a few” means every pencil I own, spread across the table like they’re auditioning for a part.

There’s always one shade I’m convinced will make everything come together. Then another. Before long, I’m comparing two purples that look identical to everyone except me. One is clearly more dramatic. We understand each other.

That’s one of my favorite things about making art: getting happily lost in the details and seeing where an idea takes me. A simple doodle grows leaves, flowers, and a personality—and suddenly the afternoon has disappeared.

So pull up a chair and make something with me. You don’t need a perfect plan. A pencil and a little curiosity will do.

Bring your own purple, though. I’m using both of mine.
