Sunday Said to Put the List Down.
There’s a particular kind of optimism that happens on Sunday. You look at the coming week and think, “Yes, I can absolutely fit all of that in.”
Apparently, Sunday has never met me on a Monday.
My list tends to include practical things, creative things, and several things that seemed perfectly reasonable when I wrote them down late at night. By morning, I’m reading it like someone has assigned me homework.
Today, I’m giving myself a little breathing room.
Late October deserves a bit of attention before we rush past it. There are still leaves to admire, cozy layers to pull out, and those wonderfully chilly evenings when staying home feels like an excellent decision.
Halloween is creeping closer, too. This is the point in the season when a stray cobweb becomes a decorating choice. I appreciate a holiday that recognizes work I’ve already done.
Around here, Sunday will probably involve a little art, a little website tinkering, and the boys supervising from whatever spot offers the most comfort with the least effort. I may even finish something before another idea wanders in and distracts me.
No promises. I know who I’m dealing with.
But I would like to end the day feeling as though I actually had a Sunday—not just an extra preparation day for Monday. A few things done, something good to eat, and some time spent doing what I enjoy sounds about right.
If your list is getting a little bossy today, you have my permission to leave something for tomorrow. Mine will have plenty of company.
What are you making room for this Sunday: something creative, something cozy, or a lovely stretch of doing very little?
